The MERCEDES F1 WO5 HYBRID

The nose of the MERCEDES F1 WO5 HYBRID was one of the best and most effective noses seen In 2014. The power unit, MERCEDES PU106A HYBRID is the cars strong point thanks to reduced  dimensions and technical solutions. This magnificent car was fast in a straight line and generated superb downforce, into, through and out of corners making it an advanced car all round. The complex structure of the front wing of the car were equipped with a long series of airflow aids.

 

The BRAWN GP 01

This car at first sight looked to be a car with a simple design. But it actually had many technical refinements designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency. One of this cars strong points was definitely its low nose that experts helped design to be different from other competitors. To increase downforce and direct airflow, two small triangular shaped boards were fitted to the nose to aim air to the sides of the car. The most amazing features on the car were the great design of adjustable flaps and the endplates of the front wing.

 

MCLAREN MP4/4

An electronic display of carbon fibre behind the steering wheel of the 1988 car was a huge feature. The controls switches on the wheel are on this car although there are only limited of them as technology was not very well developed at that time. The Honda RA 168E, 6-cylinder, 80 vee engine provided maximum power of just under 700 bhp at 14,000 rpm. The front suspension on the 1988 Mclaren car had pull rod-activated double wishbone suspension left plenty of space for airflow to the radiators.

Williams FW14B

This car has a very special feature unlike other cars. There is an active suspension system in the car can be seen from the front of the chassis with push-rods (running diagonally) directly liked to the hydraulic actuators. The actuators are directly connected to the push-rod and a central damper to control roll and pitch. There is also a removable cover on the bodywork to allow easy access for quick work on hydraulic changes which is good during qualifying. The dampers in the car were also designed produced by Williams. The carbon disc brakes came from French aerospace manufacturer Carbone institute.

Toro Rosso STR3

The STR3 is known as the car that saw the rise of a Champion. The car was driven in 2008 by Sebastian Vettel and Sébastian Boudais. Vettel won in one of the races and got his first F1 win. The engine for the car was a Ferrari engine. It’s height was extremely short, 95 cm to be exact and its tyres were from Bridgestone. The car was designed by Giorgio Ascanelli, Adrian Newley and many other Red Bull racing aerodynamic engineers.
